Wine of the Week
Move over Santa Margarita, Elena Walch 2018, Pinot Grigio, Alto Adige DOC, Italy is at the top of our list. We usually just take a few sips, but it was so good we went from sipping to drinking. The color is that of golden angelic straw, as if Rumpelstiltskin had just spun it.
The flavors were clean and refreshing with punchy acidity, lemon, green apple, pear and a nice touch of minerality. The wine is available at wine.com or thewinelibrary.com.
Five generation deep, this family owned winery is run by the Walch daughters, Julia and Karoline. The winery has gained local and international esteem and has won many awards. We actually enjoyed it with Made in Nature Smyrna Figs and Arla Havarti Cheese, both available at Costco.
