Regal at the Eagle
Nestled in the Santa Rosa hillside lies the Stone Eagle Golf Club, the location for the Regal Wine Co. 2019 Desert Trade Show. This is a low key wine tasting with enticing food made by Chef John Tice. Boy was it a doozie with an iconic valley view you can write home about. Pairing the wines with lamb meatballs, rabbit empanadas, hot and crisp arancini, flatbreads and assorted cheeses and almonds was genius.
Many brands were represented with an amazing range of wines from basically every continent known to winekind. We could never write up all of the great wines we tried, so here are a couple of fun ones to keep on your radar (Beep, Beep, Beep).
2017 Suduri Willamette Pinot Noir, Oregon- Luscious notes of boysenberry and dried cherry with fall spices, pairing this with the lamb meatball was a wise choice.
NV Marcel Cabelier Cremant Du Jura Brut Rose, France- One sip produces a mouthful of bubbles, a sexy pale pink color with notes of fresh strawberries. A fun aperitif with the Marcona almonds and dried apricots.
2017 Siefried Estate Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand- With notes of sexy jalapeno, grapefruit, passion fruit and gooseberry, this went great with the rabbit empanadas.
2018 Reyneke Vinehugger Organic White, South Africa- 100% Chenin Blanc, with notes of apple, melon and butter cookie finish worked well with pear and prosciutto flat bread.
2017 Calina Pinot Noir Reserve, Chile- Light bodied with subtle notes of dark cherry and red stone fruit paired brilliantly with the bruschetta.
