Fun Wines for Coachella Times

It’s that time of the year when musicians and fans from around the world are here in the Valley. I’m talking about the Coachella Music Festival of course. After dropping all your dough on Coachella tickets, I thought it would be fun to come up with a list of some great wines for some great prices.

Cold and light wines come to mind naturally when the temperatures are rising. This is a true Italian NV Rose Frizzante by Simpler Wines brand. There are flavors of red fruit with a clean finish and a nice tingle on the tongue. The best part is it comes in a 4 pack of 187ml cans at the price of $3.99. I have only seen it at Trader Joe’s thus far. www.traderjoes.com

Here’s another really great value wine, that you’re not gonna believe when you see the price, Winking Owl NV Sauvignon Blanc California. It is a light and zesty wine perfect for pretty much any occasion. Hints of lime and grapefruit help quaff this baby down fast. It is only $2.39 at your local Aldi Market. www.aldi.us

I know I’ve already mentioned a sparkler, but I just have to tell you about La Vostra Prosseco from Veneto, Italy. Let me tell you, I cannot get enough of this bubbly and it’s only $10. It has juicy notes of orchard fruit with a nice crisp finish. Total Wine carries this year round. www.totalwine.com

The last wine I think you should try is a Pacific Oasis 2014 Chardonnay, Columbia Valley, Washington. This is not your mom’s Chardonnay, this is a light bodied crisp and lively wine with the flavors of Kiwi and pineapple. Do yourself a favor and try it with a turkey sandwich. It’s only $9.99 at Desert Wine and Spirits.
